MOBILE, Ala. --- The University of South Alabama men’s basketball program has signed a student-athlete to a National Letter of Intent, head coach Ronnie Arrow announced Wednesday.
The Jaguars received a commitment from Labree Sledge of Tyler Junior College in Tyler, Texas.
In 28 regular season games, Sledge ranked fourth on the team in scoring at 9.8 points per game and hit 63 3-pointers, fourth-most in Region XIV. His 42.9 3-point percentage and 67 steals were also fourth in the conference.
The Apaches, led by head coach Mike Marquis, posted a 24-6 overall record last season and tied for the North Zone championship with a 14-5 league mark. Tyler fell in the semifinals to Paris Junior College, led by current Jaguar Raymond Sims.
“Sledge is one of the best shooters in that conference,” said Arrow. “You always have room for a shooter of his caliber. Not only that, but his high school coach said he was the best defender on the ball they had. So he brings shooting ability plus defensive ability, which is good.”
