SOUTH ALABAMA ADDS MOORE TO BASKETBALL SIGNING CLASS

MOBILE, Ala. -- Cameron Moore, a 6-8 forward from San Antonio, Texas, has signed a national letter-of-intent to play basketball at South Alabama, head coach Ronnie Arrow announced today. Moore is the third player to join the program this spring and the fifth overall between the early and late signing periods.

A McDonald’s All-American nominee, Moore played for Dwayne Gerlich at Roosevelt High School, where he earned first-team all-district honors as a junior and senior. He averaged 19.3 points, 10.2 rebounds per game this season, converting 58 percent of his two-point shot attempt. He also averaged 2.3 assists and 1.9 blocks per contest.

“Cameron brings us the total package,” Head Coach Ronnie Arrow said. “He is a good student and a smooth athlete. He is explosive and, with additional strength and maturity, his level of ability will be raised immensely. Cameron is versatile for his size as he can definitely go outside or play inside.”

Moore chose the Jaguars over the United States Military Academy (West Point) and Tulsa. He is enrolled in AP classes as a high school senior and will graduate this year at the age of 17.

South Alabama made its third straight postseason appearance in 2007-08 when it received an at-large berth in the NCAA Tournament. The 26-7 Jaguars return three starters and 11 letterwinners from that team.
