SALAH, EDWARDS CAPTURE TOP-10 FINISHES AT MEYO INVITATIONAL

NOTRE DAME, Ind. - University of South Alabama track and field senior Saber Salah and sophomore Zac Edwards captured top-10 finishes at the Meyo Invitational this weekend at the Loftus Sports Center.

Salah finished ninth in the men's one mile run Saturday afternoon with a time of 4:10.39, which stands as the fastest indoor mile run by a Jaguar since Tonny Okello's finish of 4:10.04 at the Florida Diet Pepsi Invitational in 2007.

Edwards captured an eighth-place finish in the men's 5,000-meter run Friday evening with a time of 14:23.91. Senior Micah Tirop finished 14th in the 5,000m with a time of 14:27.91.

"For us to get our program to the next level, we have to go against high-level competition," USA head coach Paul Brueske said. "The experience of competing at such a high level is going to be valuable as they progress toward the Sun Belt championships."

USA will return to action next weekend with a two-day meet at the Tiger Paw Invitational in Clemson, S.C.
