USA BaseBlog - Nov. 25, 2008 - Seven for 2010, Plus 10 for 2009

The USA BaseBlog is a new web site feature found only on the baseball page at www.usajaguars.com. David Kaye, USA baseball's athletic media relations contact, provides an all-access look into Jag baseball. The USA BaseBlog will also be utilized to provide information on items that may not necessitate a full release.

Nov. 25, 2008 - SEVEN FOR 2010, PLUS 10 FOR 2009

Thank you for taking the time to browse the baseball page. If you have a question or comment, please feel free to  e-mail me. As you may have noticed, the first version of "Profiling the Jags' 2010 Signees ..." is now up on the web site. The Jags' lone high school signee, Nolan Earley, was the first to be featured. He'll be followed by Brent Tanner Wednesday.

In other news, the 2009 South Alabama Baseball Quick Facts have been published. Updates will be made as necessary, but the version online right now is close to the final copy. Additionally, the player bios all have updated pictures.

"In the Dugout With ..." is being put on hold while the "Profiling the Jags' 2010 Signees ..." series is in production, but there will still be updates to the USA BaseBlog. Over the next few weeks I'll be ranking and counting down the Jags' 10 best games of the 2009 season. I should note that this is literally taking a page Straight From the Pen. Larry Little, the baseball contact at Baylor, spent the last two seasons teaching me everything I know about this field.

While stealing ideas isn't necessarily a good thing, he did teach me that it's alright to use an idea you like from someone else's work as long as you make it your own. If I'm going to steal an idea from someone, it's only fair that I do so from him.  He's one of the best in the business, as evidenced by the fact that he has twice served as the press officer for the USA Baseball National Team (2005 and 2008). Besides, I doubt David Letterman was the first person to make a top-10 list.

I'm in the process of polling others who have been around South Alabama baseball longer than I have, but look for No. 10 in the near future. Also, don't forget to visit the baseball page Wednesday to see "Profiling the Jags' 2010 Signees ... Brent Tanner." This web site series is only available on the baseball page of www.usajaguars.com.
