GULF SHORES, Ala. - Senior Claudia Wolf shot a three-over-par 75 to lead the University of South Alabama women's golf team in the first round of the UAB Blazer Fall Beach Blast at The Peninsula Golf and Racquet Club.

Wolf's head to the final round tied for 10th place individually, three strokes behind UAB's Carolyn Cochran and Memphis' Kathleen Glavin.

The Jags' first-round 314 leaves them in 10th place, though the team is just eight strokes back of Arkansas State and Belmont, who are tied for fourth in the standings. Middle Tennessee leads the tournament after shooting a nine-over-par 297 on Monday.

Freshman Kristen Golightly turned in the Jags' second-best round with a 78, while Nina Offenberg carded an 80, and Ana Garcia and Anna Sellen-Runefjell both carded shot 81 to round of the USA scorecard.

The Jags were playing without Fanny Eineren, who turned in the team's best finish at each of its first three tournaments this season and holds a team-leading 75.86 stroke average on the year.

"Fanny sprained her ankle in yesterday's practice round, so she wasn't able to go today," head coach T.J. Jackson said. "Kristen actually drove down this morning and came through with a 78, so she really helped us out by playing well."

Golightly's round was by far her best as a Jag. Through her first five collegiate rounds, she had posted a stroke average of 84.60 with a best round of 81. She sits tied for 31st heading to Tuesday's final round, and that standing would also top her career-best 46th-place finish.

Tuesday's final round is scheduled for an 8 a.m. shotgun start at The Peninsula Golf and Racquet Club.
