MOBILE, Ala. - The University of South Alabama's cross country team will finish their regular season this Saturday as the Jags will travel to Troy, Ala. for the Coach "O" Invitational.
"This is the second year in a row we have run at the Coach O Invitational," said distance coach Tim Goldsack. "Since the course is the same as last year, we can compare times. We will see how much we have improved since last season".
The Jaguar women will run at 9:30 a.m. this Saturday followed by the men with the three-mile race. Defending their title, the women will look to returning senior Magrina Chepkoech and freshman Tori Lawson to lead the pack. These women have placed in the top 10 consecutively throughout the season and Chepkoech placed third last season in the Coach "O" (11:40).
Adding to the competition, the Jaguar men will be represented by sophomore Damien Lee and freshman Alex Shields. Both runners have shown improvement over the last three races aiding the men to three team titles.
When predicting the outcome of the meet Goldsack said, "I believe that our women's team will go in there and defend their title and Damien and Alex should be very competitive in putting themselves in the top 5 of the race."
Results from Saturday will be posted on the cross country schedule and results page.
