USA MEN?S TENNIS CONTINUES SPRING BREAK ACTION AT FAU THURSDAY

MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama men’s tennis team looks to improve their record in Boca Raton, Fla. Thursday when they play Sun Belt Conference foe Florida Atlantic at Patch Reef Park at 1 p.m.

This is only the second time the two teams have faced off. In their first meeting in 2006 the No. 62 Jags swept the Owls 7-0 at home.

The Jaguars bring a 6-6 record coming into the match and are coming off of a 7-0 sweep of Florida Gulf Coast on Tuesday. Five of the six USA losses this season came to ranked opponents, including No. 13 Florida State, No. 24 Arizona and No. 49 Brigham Young.

The Jags’ top two performers, junior Lucas Viel and sophomore Romain Bocaert, are a combined 18-5 at the No. 1 and No. 2 spots. South Alabama sophomore Dauw Kruger is the holder of an eight-match win streak, including six in straight sets, and boasts an 8-2 overall singles record for the spring.

FAU (8-5) is riding high after snapping a two-match losing streak with their 7-0 win over New Jersey Institute of Technology Tuesday at home. The Owls are 6-2 at home for the spring campaign and are nearing the end of an 11-match homestand.

Florida Atlantic is led by senior Lawrence Harradine and junior Marc Abdelnour, both of whom boast 8-3 marks from No. 1 and No. 2 singles so far this spring. Harradine is looking to add to his current seven-match win streak which includes four wins in straight sets.

Following the match, the Jaguars will return home to take on in-state rival and fellow SBC competitor No. 74 Troy on March 25 at 1 p.m. on the Bruce David Lubel Memorial Tennis Courts.
