USA WOMEN'S TENNIS TO HOST IN-STATE RIVAL TROY SUNDAY

MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama women’s tennis team will square off with Sun Belt Conference foe Troy Sunday at 11 a.m. on the Bruce David Lubel Memorial Tennis Courts.

The Jaguars lead the all-time series with the Trojans 6-1. Last season USA went on the road and topped Troy 5-2.

The Jags enter the match at 1-9 and are coming off of a 5-2 loss to Arkansas State on March 21. South Alabama’s lone win came over New Orleans 4-3 on Feb. 24.

USA’s top singles performers, Chané Hines and Katie Welch, combine for a total of seven wins. The duo is also the Jaguars No. 1 doubles tandem posting a 4-5 mark on the year.

Troy (8-7) heads to Mobile looking to extend their six-match win streak after sweeping Jacksonville State 7-0 on March 23. All seven of the Trojans’ losses have come on the road.

Troy’s Rosaura Ramirez-Vega boasts a 9-5 record in the spring campaign including wins in her last six matches. She is joined at the top by the No. 2 player Lauren Simpson who has tallied an 8-6 record. In doubles play, Troy is led by the combination of Karoline Grymel and Leonie Guijt who has posted an 11-4 record this season in dual play.
