NEW ORLEANS  - University of South Alabama distance runner Saber Salah was named Sun Belt Conference Track Athlete of the Week for the team's second honor this season.

The senior was recognized after grabbing second place in the 1,500 meters with a time of 3:45.10 last weekend at the War Eagle Invitational in Auburn, Ala. Salah is currently ranked first in the Sun Belt, 12th in the region and 13th in the nation in the event.

Salah climbed the SBC rankings after placing fourth in the 1,500 meters at the Florida Relays with a time of 3:43.50 on April 2. Salah's time is over four seconds better than the second-ranked mark in the conference.
