ON THE ROAD WITH ... CHRIS PIUMELLI

Beginning Tuesday, a member of the University of South Alabama men's golf team will write each day about his and the team's experiences at the NCAA Southeast Regional this week.  The Jaguars travelled to Alpharetta, Ga., Tuesday and will play a practice round Wednesday before competing in three rounds from Thursday-Saturday.

Tonight's report, filed after the first round, is from sophomore transfer Chris Piumelli, who hails from Vero Beach, Fla.

We were ready to execute our game plan and be patient. Paired with Coastal Carolina and Georgia Southern, the Jags started on the back side at 9:10 a.m.

Once we started, we all took note of how difficult the golf course was playing. Pins tucked and gusts of winds were setting the stage for a great golf tournament. We knew that today was a day of patience and execution.

We posted a team total of 292, placing tied for seventh.

We returned to the hotel after a nice practice session to shower and relax before we headed to dinner. After a late dinner, all of us were exhausted and ready to sleep. Unfortunately we are waking up at 5 a.m. Tomorrow play begins at 7:30 with Wake Forest and Furman.

Tomorrow, like every other day, is a day of toughness on the golf course.

My father gave me a picture framed with a quote. It reads:

"Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is a little voice that says at the end of the day, I will try again tomorrow."

This quote is great for many things in life. Always keep your head up and be strong willed, moving forward, working towards your goals. Let's go Jags!
