USA SOFTBALL SIGNEE CAMPBELL EARNS RECOGNITION

MOBILE, Ala. - University of South Alabama signee Hannah Campbell was named Mobile Press Register's softball Player of the Year for the second straight season Monday following the completion of her senior campaign.

Campbell (29-6) finished the season with a 0.20 ERA and 417 strikeouts in 215 innings of work. The left-hander helped lead Satsuma High School (49-10-1) to the South Regional Championship and  the 6A state tournament for the second season in a row.

"Hannah is a very classy and talented ball player who is well deserving of this award," USA assistant coach Coby Mackin said. "We are very proud of her accomplishments throughout her high school career, and are confident that the talent and character that has made her so successful will continue to develop at the next level.  We are really looking forward to the contributions she is going to make to our program over the next four years."

Offensively, she finished the season with a .531 batting average, 10 home runs and 57 RBI. In 2009 she went 28-4 with a 0.56 ERA, and batted .353 with eight homers and 48 RBI.

Earlier this season Campbell was named ESPN Rise Southeast Player of the Week following her perfect game shutout with nine strikeouts in Satsuma's 7-0 victory over Baldwin County High School.
