Mobile, Ala. – Two University of South Alabama soccer signees, Morgan Motes and Tatum Perry, received recognition for their outstanding play during their senior seasons earlier this month.
Motes was named by the
Birmingham News honorable mention all-metro for the fourth time in her high school career. She was voted rookie of the year as a freshman at Oak Mountain High School, located in Birmingham. Motes was a National Honor Society member and school valedictorian. She was also member of the Birmingham United Soccer Association 92 Elite club team. The Birmingham native helped BUSA win state championships in 2008 and '09, and the Region III Premiere League championship those years as well.
Perry was named to the 2010
Huntsville Times elite soccer team. She was a three-year letter-winner at Huntsville High where she played defender, midfielder and forward. She played club soccer for the Birmingham United Soccer Association 93 Elite, located in Birmingham, and helped BUSA win the state championship for the 2009-10 season.
The USA soccer team will open up the 2010 season when they take on Jackson State in Jackson, Miss., on Friday Aug. 20.The contest will begin at 3 p.m.
