MOBILE, Ala. The University of South Alabama soccer team unofficially opens the 2010 season with its annual alumni game at 7 p.m. Saturday at “The Cage.” Former USA soccer players will return to take on this year’s Jags in the match.

 “This is a match that I really look forward to every year,” USA head coach Mike Varga said.  “With past players spread out all over the country, I don't get to see them very often and I appreciate those that get back for the game.  Many of the players on the men's and the women's teams at South Alabama have built lifelong friendships, and it is always good to spend some time with the team members from the past.”
 
USA returns 11 letterwinners from last season’s 3-15-1 team, and welcomes 19 newcomers to the roster. Following the alumni game, the Jags travel to Jackson, Miss., to take on Jackson State Friday Aug. 20, at 3 p.m. in the season opener.
