MOBILE, Ala. – University of South Alabama
women’s basketball head coach Rick Pietri announced Friday the addition of Jessica Hall as Director of Basketball Operations.
“We are really pleased to have Jessica serving in the basketball operations role on our staff,” Pietri said. “I actually recruited her out of high school and know what kind of person she is and what kind of family she comes from. She brings what we need to that position and will be an asset to our program.”
Hall will be responsible for film exchange, team travel, assist in the monitoring academic progress of student-athletes, act as a liaison for community service events, oversee student managers, and serve as a liaison with the LOG program – a women’s basketball support group.
“I am very excited about joining the University of South Alabama women’s basketball program,” Hall said of her new position. “I look forward to working with a wonderful coaching staff. I have known coach Pietri for several years and I am very thankful for the position.”
The Tallahassee, Fla., native comes to USA after completing her Master’s Degree in Sports Leadership and Coaching at Central Florida in May and finishing with a 3.75 GPA. Hall was a member of the Knights roster for the past two seasons, but was limited in her playing time due to injury. She redshirted the 2008-09 season and saw action in six games for UCF during the 2009-10 campaign.
Prior to transferring to Central Florida, Hall played two seasons for Memphis. She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education in May, 2008 and graduated Magna Cum Laude. In her final season with the Lady Tigers, she led the team in scoring with 13 points per game and was a finalist for the V. Foundation Comeback Award. In two seasons at Memphis, Hall scored 496 points.
Hall signed with Memphis after a stellar prep career at FAMU High School in Tallahassee, Fla. In 2003, she earned Street and Smith Honorable Mention All-American honors and ended her prep career with over 2,900 points and 357 made three-pointers. She was also the salutatorian of her class.
Since 2006, Hall has also served as head coach of the Essence Girls’ Basketball AAU Club 14 and under team, as well as serving as an assistant coach for the 16 and under team.
Over the past several years, she has also been very active in the community, volunteering her time at the Orlando Boy’s and Girl’s Club (2009-10), the Memphis Family Shelter (2007-08), St. Jude Children’s Hospital and the LeBonheur Children’s Center (2004-08), as well as at various other elementary and middle schools and senior citizen centers.
