USA TRACK AND FIELD ADDS D-III NATIONAL CHAMPION TO ROSTER

USA head track and field coach Paul Brueske announced Friday the addition of Briana Aiken to next year's roster.

MOBILE, Ala. –  University of South Alabama head track and field coach Paul Brueske announced Friday the addition of Texas Lutheran University transfer Briana Aiken to the 2010-11 lineup, bringing the total number of recruits for next season to 12.

Aiken comes to USA after claiming the national Division III title in the long jump, bringing Texas Lutheran’s total individual track and field national championship tally to three and setting a new school record in the event. The Pflugerville, Texas, native picked up the long jump title despite entering her college career as a pole vaulter and sprints competitor. The freshman jumper was also named the American Southwest Conference track and field female athlete of the week on April 21 for her provisional qualifying mark for the NCAA Division III Regionals in the triple jump.

“Briana is a welcome addition,” Brueske said. “She should be able to come right in and make an immediate impact for us.”
