MOBILE, Ala. – May 3, 2013, will mark the 50th Anniversary of the University of South Alabama. Throughout the academic year, the USA Department of Athletics will recognize “50 Great Moments In Jaguar Athletics” to honor past teams, coaches and student-athletes for their accomplishments.

Senior Ajoke Odumosu advances to the finals of the 400-meter hurdles at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, as her time of 56.19 seconds was second fastest in the semifinals; it marked the second year in a row that she advanced to the finals of the event. A native of Lagos, Nigeria, Odumosu ended her career with school records in the 400 meters and 400-meter hurdles, while she won both events at the Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Championships three straight years. In the summer of 2008, Odumosu reached the semifinals of the 400-meter hurdles at the Olympic Games in Beijing, China, where she helped the Nigerian 4x400-meter relay place seventh in the finals. This summer, she finished eighth in the 400-meter hurdles at the 2012 London Olympic Games.

Freshman quarterback C.J. Bennett completed a 45-yard touchdown pass to Courtney Smith with five-and-a-half minutes remaining in the game, leading the Jaguars to a 24-21 come-from-behind victory at UC Davis. The Aggies took over at the USA 33-yard line in the final minutes, but two Anthony Taylor sacks helped force a 34-yard field goal that went wide right as time expired, giving the Jaguars their 14th consecutive victory. Smith finished with six catches for 106 yards and two touchdowns to pace the offense, Brennan Sim completed 13-of-18 attempts for 116 yards and Bennett added 105 yards on through the air. Taylor led the Jag defense with six total stops, while T.J. Glover supplied 150 all-purpose yards on the day.
