MOBILE, Ala. – May 3, 2013, will mark the 50th Anniversary of the University of South Alabama.  Throughout the academic year, the USA Department of Athletics will recognize “50 Great Moments In Jaguar Athletics” to honor past teams, coaches and student-athletes for their accomplishments.

Lady Jag head coach Rick Pietri picks up his 200th career victory directing the program when USA defeats Western Kentucky, 56-52, in Bowling Green; it was the school’s first win over the Lady Toppers on their home floor.  Sarda Peterson posted a game-high 16 points, and Mary Nixon and Taylor Ammons added 12 and 10 to go along with seven rebounds apiece to help the Lady Jags overcome an eight-point halftime deficit.  It was the second milestone win for Pietri in two years, as he became the program’s all-time leader in coaching victories on Feb. 9, 2011, after USA beat Troy 72-62 at the Mitchell Center.
