Heath Slocum finishes second while Jason Brown and Tom Clemons tie for third one shot behind him, helping the Jaguars win the first of three straight Sun Belt Conference championships with a tournament record 18-under-par 846 team score. It was the team’s second win — and third top-two performance — of the month, as USA would go on to place 12th out of 23 teams at the NCAA East Regional in Opelika, Ala., in the program’s first-ever appearance in the event. Slocum would earn All-American honors after leading the league with a 72.75 scoring average, while Brown ranked second in the category and was an all-district selection.
