NEW ORLEANS – University of South Alabama junior
Ken Williams has been named to Third Team All-Sun Belt Conference, the league announced Tuesday morning.
The Houston, Texas native earns all-conference recognition for the second time; he was a second-team pick as a sophomore.
The seventh-leading scorer in the league at 15.5 points per game, Williams also ranks eighth in assists (3.4 apg), and ninth in 3-pointers (2.0 pg) and assist/turnover ratio (1.3).
He has scored in double-digits 24 times in 30 games, and hit the 20-point plateau on eight occasions – seven times during league play – scoring a season-high 27 points twice, against Appalachian State and Georgia State. He is averaging 16.2 ppg in conference games.
Williams has led the team in scoring 18 times – more than the rest of the team combined – and hit six 3-pointers in a game twice.
Not only the team's leading scorer, Williams also paces the Jaguars in assists with 101. He would become the first USA player to lead the team in scoring and record 100 assists in a season since
Demetrice Williams in 2001-02. Williams has dished out five or more assists six times, and set a new career high in the category with eight at Troy.
Williams and the Jaguars will face Georgia Southern in the first round of the Sun Belt Tournament Thursday at 5 p.m.
