MOBILE, Ala. – University of South Alabama soccer head coach
Graham Winkworth revealed Wednesday the 10 student-athletes joining the roster for the 2016 season.
The group includes
Gabrielle Craig,
Kory Dixon,
Laurie Graves,
Alexis Jordan,
Camryn Lister,
Jana Loeber,
Briana Morris,
Justice Stanford,
Caroline Torrens and
Madaline Wasden.
Torrens is a mid-year transfer from Spring Hill College, and is currently enrolled at South Alabama.
"This class offers a little bit of everything, including three keepers that can come in and really make the fight for the starting position interesting," Winkworth said. "It was very important to add some more quality to the back line after losing two starters from last year. Replacing maybe the greatest player to pull on the South Alabama jersey so far in
Nini Rabsatt-Smith was never going to be easy, but in Jana and Alexis we have two young ladies with vast athleticism and experience.
"The midfield is now much deeper with the addition of Camryn and Gabby while mid-year transfer Caroline Torrens also adds to this. In the final third, we have even more pace with Kory, Bri and Alexis' ability to play up there. This will really push the likes of
Chardé (
Hannah),
Ashlynn (
Jones) and
Rio (
Hardy) all the way.
"I did not expect to make this many additions at this stage but we have been fortunate that three or four of these young ladies made late decisions to join the program.
"I am very happy with the squad we have assembled. Adding these girls to a group that already returns nine starters is very exciting and I have every confidence that with a lot of hard work we can once again challenge the teams at the top of the Sun Belt Conference and even nationally."
