2009 UCA Camp

We here at the University of South Alabama would like to welcome you to the homepage of the South Alabama cheerleaders.  The South Alabama cheerleading squad consists of academically responsible, highly motivated and spirited individuals who take great pride in supporting the teams at the university as well as one another and the surrounding community.

The Mitchell Center, finished in the year 2000, serves as stunning backdrop for every game, concert and special event held at the University of South Alabama.  The South Alabama cheerleaders participate at men and women’s basketball games as well as other various events held at the Mitchell Center.  During the 2006 season, the squad accompanied the men’s basketball team to the Sunbelt Conference Tournament at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro.  The squad cheered the team to victory and attended the first round of the NCAA tournament to support the Jaguars as they played the University of Florida.

Not only is the cheerleading squad responsible for their games and obligations to the university, but they also attend a Universal Cheerleading Association (UCA) cheerleading camp and the National Cheerleading Championships during the year.  The cheerleaders have won the Most Collegiate Award and the Leadership Award at UCA summer camp in 2005 and 2006; also, for the past three years, the squad has placed in the top ten for Small Coed Division I-A schools at the UCA National Championships.  The university has previously won two National Cheerleading Championships.

Thank you for your interest in the cheerleading program at the University of South Alabama.
