General Information
• All participants must be currently enrolled or have applied to the University.
• If you are under 18, your medical release form MUST BE SIGNED by a parent or guardian in order to participate.
• All portions of tryouts are closed to the public. Only applicants, coaching staff, and USA athletic department staff will be allowed inside.
• Evaluators may consist of the coaching staff, spirit coordinator, and professional dance instructors. The purpose of the tryout is to choose the best all-around representatives for USA.
About the Auditions
A jazz routine as well as a fight song dance will be taught. Dancers will be expected to execute the routines as well as perform 45 sec of your own choreography. Music for your individual choreography must be on a CD.
Listed below are skills that may be included in the dance portion of the auditions:
• left and right splits
• left and right triple turns
• left and right fouettes
• left and right kicks (all forms)
• right needle turn
• left and right leaps (this includes straddles and switch leaps to all sides & reverse jetes)
